Helsinki Decompression 2025 marks the sixth local official Burning Man event in Finland. We always encourage people to enjoy the moment and leave the cameras and phones away for the weekend - but do have official photographers on site during early evenings capturing the awesomeness rising - with the participants' consent, of course. Welcome to a brief pic memory lane of Helsinki Decompression!

The first event was held in 2016. After three glorious annual extravaganzas, we had to take a frustratingly long break from organizing these beautiful gatherings, just as everybody else around the world.

Following some hopeful planning meetings in late 2021, our dreams of hosting Decomp 2022 were dashed by renewed restrictions. But at last, in 2023, we were set free - and since then, we’ve been growing our community of radical self-expression and participation stronger and warmer than ever! 💜

Helsinki Decompression has always attracted participants from around the globe (shoutout to Bernadette in the top right corner!). For example in 2023, we were delighted to host special guests like the Traveling Hedgehog from Estonia.

Since 2023, Helsinki Decompression has welcomed around 600 participants each year. Our venues have grown in size, and the number of art installations and performances has skyrocketed. For Helsinki Decompression 2024, we featured over 50 DJs and music performances across four stages, more than 40 art installations and interactive spaces, and over 20 workshops!

Helsinki Decompression 2025 will be held in the same venue as in 2024: Aalto University's Old Design Factory. This incredible space offers a range of environments, from cozy rooms to expansive halls spread across two massive floors. We can’t wait to see what wonders unfold during the weekend starting on Friday, April 18, 2025!
